Police Women Volleyball Club of Rwanda secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Match 52 of the 2025 Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship, earning a respectable 9th-place finish in the continental competition held in Abuja.
In a thrilling classification game for positions 9–10, the Rwandan side bounced back from a tight 23-25 loss in the first set to dominate the subsequent three sets: 25-19, 25-20, and 25-17. The encounter showcased high-intensity rallies, tactical discipline, and moments of individual brilliance.
Leading the charge for Police WVC was standout performer Sanimani Namani, donning jersey number 8, whose powerful smashes and consistent scoring made her a constant threat to the Nigerian defense. Her offensive prowess was particularly evident in the third set, where Police WVC raced to a massive 20-9 lead. Though NCS attempted a late surge, they could only reduce the deficit to 25-20 before the Rwandans closed it out.
Despite the home crowd’s support, Nigeria Customs Service struggled to maintain their early momentum. After clinching the first set, they were unable to match the pace and precision of the East Africans in the remaining sets and ultimately settled for 11th place.
The victory marks a strong finish for Police WVC in this year’s edition of the championship, demonstrating their growth and competitive edge on the continental stage.
