Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have reported to the Ahmadu Bello Stadium camp in Kaduna as they begin preparations for the WAFU B qualifiers that will determine who flies the West African flag at the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Coach Nduka Ugbade, a former World Cup winner with the Golden Eaglets, welcomed the 35-man squad and promised a perfect blend of home-based talent and players already plying their trade in Europe.
“This group is talented and hungry. We are not just going to qualify, we are going to win the tournament,” Ugbade said during the opening training session.
The qualifiers are expected to be tough, with strong teams like Ghana and Ivory Coast also in the mix. The boys trained twice on Sunday, focusing on tactical shape and set-pieces. Parents and scouts were seen around the camp, showing the high level of interest.
NFF technical director Augustine Eguavoen paid a surprise visit and urged the players to make Nigerians proud.
“You are the future of the Super Eagles. Work hard and the sky will be your limit.”
The first qualifier is scheduled for late January. The entire nation will be watching to see if this crop can replicate the success of previous Golden Eaglets teams that won the U-17 World Cup.
