Team Bayelsa has officially emerged as champions of the first-ever Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF), topping the final medal standings with a dominant performance at the Uyo Township Stadium in Akwa Ibom State.
Bayelsa led the table with 86 total medals, including a stunning 42 Gold, 29 Silver, and 15 Bronze—securing them the top spot and bragging rights as the festival’s inaugural winners.
Delta State came in second despite claiming the highest number of total medals (99), powered by 41 Gold, 26 Silver, and 32 Bronze. Edo State wasn’t far behind, securing third place with 89 medals (23 Gold, 35 Silver, and 31 Bronze), marking them as one of the most consistent teams across all events.
Rivers State took fourth place with 63 medals, while Ondo rounded out the top five with a respectable 43.
Host state Akwa Ibom delighted the home crowd with 37 medals, followed by Abia (32), Imo (42), and Cross River State (31).
