The Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 Tournament kicked off in Asaba, Delta State, from July 5–12, 2025, featuring eight elite clubs battling for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Participants included Warri Wolves, Osun United, Crown FC, Wikki Tourists, Yobe Desert Stars, Doma FC, Kun Khalifa FC, and Barau FC.
The tournament followed a round-robin format leading to knockout semifinals and a final. Warri Wolves impressed with their attacking play, while Barau FC made history with a string of victories that ultimately earned them promotion to the NPFL for the first time.
Fans flocked to the Asaba Stadium, creating a festive atmosphere with drums, chants, and banners for each club. Organizers praised the conduct of teams and fans, noting that strict COVID-19 protocols were observed. The tournament also attracted scouts from NPFL clubs looking for emerging talents.
