The organising committee for the 22nd National Sports Festival, popularly known as the Gateway Games, held its maiden meeting in Abeokuta on Monday. Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun assured members that the state is committed to hosting the biggest and best edition of the festival yet, with world-class facilities already under construction.
The Governor said:
“We are not just hosting a sports festival, we are building a legacy. All venues will meet international standards and we will ensure every athlete competes in the best possible conditions.” The committee discussed timelines, accommodation, transportation and security for the multi-sport event expected to feature over 30 sports.
The National Sports Commission has pledged full support and the meeting ended on a positive note with everyone optimistic that the Gateway Games 2025 will be a resounding success.
