Nigeria’s national men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, officially began a rebuilding process, following a series of inconsistent performances in recent international competitions.
The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) outlined a long-term strategy centered on youth integration, coaching development, and tactical modernization. The aim is to create a balanced squad capable of competing effectively at both continental and global levels.
Young prospects from domestic leagues and overseas programs have been invited to training camps, providing fresh energy and competition for established players. Coaches emphasized defensive structure, ball movement, and three-point shooting as key focus areas during this transitional phase.
Basketball analysts believe that Nigeria’s success in women’s basketball through D’Tigress offers a blueprint for rebuilding the men’s team. If properly executed, this new approach could restore D’Tigers as a dominant force in African basketball.
