President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), has confirmed that the Federation successfully met its technical and developmental goals during the recent Four-Nation Unity Cup in London and the high-profile international friendly match against Russia in Moscow.
These matches, played over a 12-day period, were instrumental in evaluating player performance and expanding the Super Eagles’ talent pool ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“I can tell you categorically that we achieved our sporting objectives. The key goal was to give Coach Eric Chelle and his technical crew the opportunity to assess new players who could strengthen the squad,” Gusau stated.
Unity Cup Triumph in London
The Unity Cup Tournament 2025 saw the Super Eagles defeat Ghana’s Black Stars 2-1 in the semi-final at Gtech Community Stadium on May 28, followed by a thrilling penalty shootout win over Jamaica after a 2-2 draw in the final on May 31.
