Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the , will take on the of Cameroon in two high-profile international friendlies as preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The fixtures, scheduled within the FIFA Women’s International Window (24 February – 7 March 2026), will be played in Yaoundé on Saturday, 28 February, and Tuesday, 3 March 2026.
The encounters form part of Nigeria’s strategic build-up to the 13th edition of the Women’s AFCON, which will take place from 17 March to 3 April 2026 in the .
The Falcons head into the tournament as defending champions and record 10-time winners. The two continental heavyweights last met in a pre-tournament friendly before the previous WAFCON edition hosted by Morocco, where Nigeria secured a convincing 2-0 victory at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.
NFF Confirms Readiness
General Secretary of the , Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, MON, confirmed that all logistical and administrative arrangements have been finalised in collaboration with Cameroon’s football authorities.
“Our objective is clear, to ensure that the Super Falcons are fully prepared to defend their WAFCON crown in Morocco and secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil,” Sanusi stated.
On their part, the (FECAFOOT) welcomed the collaboration. General Secretary Isaac Mandong described the fixtures as an opportunity to deepen sporting relations between both federations while strengthening competitive readiness.

The has confirmed that the four semi-finalists at Morocco 2026 will qualify directly for the finals in Brazil.
Nigeria’s triumph at the last edition saw the Falcons defeat Tunisia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, and hosts Morocco en route to securing their 10th continental crown — further cementing their dominance in African women’s football.
The upcoming double-header against Cameroon is expected to provide valuable tactical and competitive assessment ahead of another title defence campaign.
